air dried clay info

I’ve always gotten a huge sense of satisfaction from successfully making things from things that would typically be thrown out (anyone else just can’t seem to get rid of things??), so when I found a way to turn shredded paper into air dried clay by mixing in a few other ingredients, I couldn’t resist.
The “recipe” is loosely adapted from Gary Fay’s and involves quite a messy process, but the resultant clay is one that has significant weight and strength to it.
Some of these pots have a plastic egg carton core, providing some waterproofing (a few don’t have these cores due to their smaller size), but I would recommend against frequently exposing the pots to water.
Although the clay is made using low-cost materials, each piece requires a significant amount of time and effort to craft and paint by hand.
Each piece is unique and no two pieces are created identical :)
